Existence is a circular process with no beginning and no end. I am a firm believer in reincarnation. During life we experience various events and learn from them. After death we return to some new world in order to continue improving upon ourselves. This is what I was in my previous life (which just happened to be on Earth):
Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply
That is not heard at all, but you are the music
While the music lasts. These are only hints and guesses,
Hints followed by guesses; and the rest
Is prayer, observance, discipline, thought and action.
The hint half guessed, the gift half understood, is Incarnation.
T. S. Eliot: Dry Salvages, Four Quartets
My purpose in this life is to make those amends, to live a full enough life without fear and anxiety (though much of this has been carried along subconsciously between worlds).
Here we go around and around and around, ad infinitum, until it ends and starts all over again.
To tell you the truth, I believe that it is no less feasible that we continuously return from one lifetime to the next than it is that we are born to this world even once.
